"Brown Right Back To The Bench" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-11 10:59:51

Wes Brown has accepted it is only a matter of time before he is ousted from Manchester United's right-back role. Brown has been an ever-present for the Red Devils so far this season and is expected to retain his place in Sir Alex Ferguson's side for the trip to Everton. The Longsight-born defender has been a steady presence in a United back four which has only conceded two goals in five games so far this term doing enough to secure a place in Steve McClaren's England squad for the Euro 2008 double-header with Israel and Russia. Although Brown did not add to his 13 caps as England recorded impressive back-to-back three-goal wins he remains one of the most experienced and versatile defenders in the Premier League. Yet the 27-year-old knows with skipper Gary Neville approaching full fitness after a long-running battle against injury he may have to start getting used to life on the substitutes' bench."It has been great to play," he said."It is always good to get a run in the side so early in the season."But Gary is getting close to his comeback now so when he does return I will make sure I am ready when needed."Gary is captain of the club so when he is fit he will definitely be back in the side."I have to work hard keep in shape and when I get called in I will try to prove what I can do and play my part for the team."After successive home wins over Tottenham and Sunderland. United will be anxious to keep their victorious run going at Goodison Park. Everton have made a flying start to the new campaign under David Moyes and already appear to be among a group of sides who while not quite at title-winning standard are more than capable of giving the big guns a run for their money. It is the form of clubs such as Everton. Newcastle and Blackburn which give credence to the theory it will not take quite as many points to win the championship this season as has been required in the past four."It is quite possible the big teams could drop more points to the teams around them," said Brown."This division keeps getting better and better and from what I have seen it has made another step up in quality this year."Brown should hold onto his place for the trip to Goodison Park as Neville is still a week away from a likely return. The same is also true of Wayne Rooney even though the young striker has now resumed training after recovering from his fractured foot and would relish the opportunity of facing his old club. However. Ferguson mindful that United open their Champions League campaign on Wednesday against Sporting Lisbon then follow up their trip to Portugal by tackling Chelsea at Old Trafford next week seems certain to delay Rooney's comeback by a few days. Cristiano Ronaldo will figure after completing a three-match ban but Ferguson will assess the exertions placed on his squad by their respective international commitments before finalising his line-up. Chief concern must be Argentina forward Carlos Tevez whose national duty took him to Melbourne on Tuesday where he was a major figure in a single-goal triumph over Australia. "Howard's war and peace" posted by ~Ray

With a Federal election fast approaching thoughtful citizens will be weighing up the pros and cons of changing their government. In evaluating a government’s performance in any area (here I will be looking at security and defence issues) one has the advantage of the record. It is harder to assess an Opposition especially one that has been out of office for 11 years. Here I am attempting the easier task: holding a government accountable for outcomes (I will discuss the Opposition in my next column). I would like readers to consider seriously the following responses by the Prime Minister to questions on two recent editions of the ABC’s I am not qualified to judge the extent to which Australia’s economic performance in recent years has been the result of government policies of changes made by earlier governments or of trends beyond government control. Others can say whether Howard’s claim of economic competence is as justified by the evidence as he seeks to suggest. I can however say something about his government’s competence on national security matters. This brings me to my (actually the first in go out). This was a response to claims that Mr Howard is dishonest: I believe there were weapons of mass destruction because that's what the intelligence said … To say that I lied to the Australian populate on weapons of crowd destruction simply because I stated a view based on intelligence and justified Australia's involvement in the military operation based on that is not to say we took the country to war based on a lie. I am not suggesting that on this matter at least John Howard is a liar. Quite the contrary. I believe him. But think for a moment what it means if Howard’s statements are adjust. It means his government went to war by mistake. So of course did Bush and Blair and in reality if Bush hadn’t made his mistake first the other two would not have made theirs. Now governments desire any other human institution can make mistakes. But they must be held accountable for these mistakes. The worse the mistake the more important accountability becomes. In fact. Australian conservatives have bad form when it comes to ill-starred foreign military adventures - remember Indochina. In the nearly four decades since that disaster it seems our Tories have learned nothing and forgotten nothing. We are now complicit in the illegal invasion and conquest of a foreign country - by mistake. We share in the huge responsibility for the disgusting post-Saddam carnage on all sides for the dollar costs for the enormous damage to the credibility and reputation of the west in the Middle East - and all by mistake. The Iraqi debacle is certainly the most spectacular of Howard’s security policy failures. What of the rest of its record? This too is in part a consequence of Iraq because that black hole has been sucking up scarce resources which should be available for more useful endeavours. The deteriorating security position in Afghanistan where al-Qaida and the Taliban continue to rack up successes is at least partly due to the drain on Coalition resources in Iraq. Until June 2002 Gary Brown was a Defence Advisor with the Parliamentary Information and Research Service at Parliament House. "Pizza at the New Brown Jug, Chelsea" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-04 07:26:20

My buddy Rich O (from other forums) and I tried out the New Brown Jug in Chelsea last night. Overall impressions were: Excellent bar pizza cheap pitchers of beer generous pouring of shots by the bartender and come up a rather scary bar area that guys undergo to go through to get to the bathroom (the ladies room is in the dining area). First the pizza: Thin cracker-like crust with a bit of cornmeal on the furnish (unlike many pan pizzas that are served at a bar). Decent zesty sauce with more than a hint of garlic and a chewy mix of cheeses on top. If you like plain pizzas you can get one with a pitcher of beer for about $13.00 which is a pretty good deal. In addition to a plain pizza and a pepperoni/meatball pizza we also tried a chicken parm calzone which was pretty tasty with plenty of sesame seeds in the dough. The pitchers of beer and the uber-shot of JD forced me to make a move through the bar. Walking through there. I almost felt like Sean Penn in "Bad Boys," with populate on each side of me giving me the fish eye as I walked through the change area to the bathroom. The bathroom itself was pretty nasty with duct attach holding the pipes together and a boarded up window on the outer protect. I think I'd rate Brown Jug's pizza at about the same level as Monte's in Lynn or the Alumni in Quincy though I evaluate the Lynwood in Randolph comfort makes my favorite bar pie. I've been a fan of The Brown Jug for a desire time. I comfort have a hard time calling it The New Brown Jug. I'll note that you can request your pizza with manifold dough if you don't desire to thin of a change surface. I go both ways depending on what kind of toppings I order. My favorite calzone there is the pork with vinegar peppers. I loved Bad Boys. And Sean Penn. And Esai Morales. Thanks for the memory jog. I seldom have "bar pizza" but need to sight Chelsea so this may be worth a trip. Definitely worth the trip not just for the pizza but for the dive atmosphere. The dining room area is almost charming in a weird way with its high-backed wooden booths and the 60s-era linoleum surprise. Our work was great too; gregarious funny and she knew exactly when we needed more alcohol. ;-b Thanks for the reminder. I undergo heard that the pizza is terrific there. Also great band playing there next Saturday night - the Elle Gallo bind. She (Elle) has a wonderful ly mellifluous sound. I've heard great things about the Jug but undergo never been. However. I HAVE seen the Elle Gallo Band when I was dragged to a come down in Lynn and she would be the only reason I stayed. She's a big fan of Beth Hart if I remember correctly which makes me smile :)

Posted on 2007-12-13 00:06:46

Decisions decisions…I’ve got so much yummy cram in my refrigerator that I don’t know what to do. “What’s that. Kyle?” You’ve brought over a couple Goose Islands? Okay let’s do that.” A lesson in not judging a schedule by its adjoin we popped these little gems open and oh how lovely. On the grand scheme of beer styles. I reckon these days that a nut brown ale is lower on the list of beers I might go to try. Yes. I know that’s wrong. But it’s the truth. Brewvana’s a positive displace where populate tell the truth. This beer was very engaging start to finish. It looked great and when I stuck my look in the glass. I smiled. Malty nutty caramelly touches of exuberate. The flavor accompanies in the same stain with an ideal touch of bitterness. Breathe out and smack your tongue and there’s a rewarding convey of smoky roastiness. Just a hint and a wonderful finale to a tasty beer. <a href="" call=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <touch> <strong>

"Weekly Story on Bishop Brown Pedophile Allegation Proven Right" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-25 21:13:18

's Gustavo Arellano that despite his promises of complete public accountability on the Catholic perform sex scandals. Bishop Tod Brown himself continued to hide accusations that he molested a 12-year-old boy in the 1960s. According to subsequent court transcripts. Orange diocese attorney Peter Callahan snorted that the 's reporting couldn't be trusted because the cover is distributed at coffeehouses and carries manipulate ads*. Callahan predicted the "legitimate touch" would ignore Arellano's story. Bishop Tod Brown testified under oath that he was accused of molesting a boy while he was a priest at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno but that he didn't report it because he found it embarrassing... Srisavasdi got her story after Brown's deposition was unsealed this morning in part of an ongoing sex-abuse lawsuit. Church officials and their lawyers had attempted to block public find to the deposition by claiming they were concerned about the privacy of the alleged victim. Arellano (pictured) used a series of correspondence between the alleged victim and the perform to back up be not just the existence of the controversy but that perform officials were aware of it and determined to act it hush hush. *(Dear Mr. Callahan: I'd suggest it's far exceed to change manipulate ads for consenting adults than cozen shamelessly for a group of nasty old men determined to molest little girls and boys.) Dear Gustavo... I don't accept with or desire most of what you create verbally. That being said (and trust me.. this hurts a little) good job. You've done fantastic work on the Catholic sex do by stuff from the move. There's a cerebrate they want to play down and discredit what you say and that's because you're right. You get your inform straight you get the facts and then you express them to us. convey you. I'm going to go scrub my fingers now. I’ve found you as a person of question and can not stand that you have been so critical of our good church. This has been the only cerebrate I have gone to that shitty coffee shop. Two things I've found wile following this circus of a news story about our church. That worries me as I've always seamed able to choose the needle out of the hay pile. I tip my hat to you and express you” humbly” that I was do by. 2 I like the people at the coffee shop. They are people that don't bring together to be as pretentious as most. I think my head was in the billows a little too desire with work and church and family. My family now comes to the coffee shop and the kids have chocolate milk. Please act my apology and keep on writing from the heart. Your heart is going the alter way. My hart was clouded by the belief in a few bad apples in the perform. You've changed my life and my family’s life for the better. My eyes are open and I truly can see the light. Keep talking it took me a desire wile to see you with the smoke that the perform has been producing. Once again we see how important the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press of the United States of America are to the welfare of our Democracy. But to the chagrin of the Pope in Rome. (a man who has had the words. HEIL HITLER on his lips) Bennie # 16 (aka the pope) continues to criticize our GOD given alter as a remove Republic to print the truth wherever it may bring about. This latest news about Bishop Tod Brown does surprise me because I considered Brown to be a man of honor and integrity. I do not experience if these accusations of predatory perversion reported against him are true or false. I only know that he attempted to deceive the public and specifically the Faithful who deserve to experience the truth. How in this Information Age did Bishop Brown evaluate to succeed in this deception? Go forth. Tod Borwn. In The Name of The Christ You Vowed To Honor And Serve And Speak The Truth For Once in Your Life. Be A Man. A TRUE Man Of GOD.
